UPDATE: Joe Schmidt reveal why I’ll quite as Wallabies head coach before world cup

Joe Schmidt has announced that he will step down as head coach of the Wallabies after the 2025 Rugby Championship, citing the need to prioritize his family, particularly his son Luke, who suffers from severe epilepsy.

Schmidt’s decision comes despite Rugby Australia’s efforts to extend his contract until the 2027 Rugby World Cup. He expressed that while he enjoyed his role, the commitment required was significant, and he felt it was necessary to focus on his family’s needs.

During his tenure, Schmidt revitalized the Wallabies, leading them to notable victories, including a win over England and a competitive performance against Ireland. His departure leaves Australian rugby seeking a new head coach ahead of the 2027 World Cup.
