Brendan Rodgers, the manager of Celtic FC, has recently faced criticism for several decisions that have sparked controversy among fans and pundits.

In 2019, Rodgers left Celtic to join Leicester City, a move that upset many supporters. During a pre-Champions League match interview between Celtic and Bayern Munich, former Celtic manager Martin O’Neill interrupted Rodgers, suggesting he left Celtic simply because he wanted to. Rodgers explained that he felt he had taken the club as far as he could and that his departure was a footballing decision. However, he acknowledged the negative impact his exit had on Celtic fans. The interview became awkward, prompting Amazon Prime to suggest continuing the discussion off-camera.

Celtic’s handling of recent transfer activities have raised concerns. The departure of key striker Kyogo Furuhashi to Rennes without a replacement has been particularly contentious. Rodgers expressed dissatisfaction with the club’s transfer policy, highlighting the lack of significant signings. This situation has led to questions about the club’s ambitions and preparedness for European challenges.

Rodgers criticism of referee Don Robertson has also been vocal in his criticism of referee Don Robertson. After a match where Robertson awarded a penalty against Celtic, Rodgers stated that if Robertson made too many mistakes, he wouldn’t be considered a top-class referee. This comment drew attention to the challenges referees face and the scrutiny they are under, especially in high-profile matches.

These incidents highlight the ongoing challenges Rodgers faces in managing Celtic, balancing the expectations of fans, the media, and the club’s objectives.
