USA Government announces the closure of the US Embassy in some part of the West African region

The U.S. Embassy in Abuja and the Consulate General in Lagos are closed today, Monday, February 17, 2025, in observance of Presidents’ Day, a federal holiday in the United States. Normal operations will resume on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.

Presidents’ Day is observed annually on the third Monday of February to honor all U.S. presidents, particularly George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. While the embassy and consulate are closed, essential services remain accessible through emergency contact channels. Routine consular services will resume after the holiday.
