Warriors’ Jimmy Butler Sidelined Against 76ers, Listed Day-to-Day with Back Spasms

Golden State Warriors’ forward Jimmy Butler was sidelined during the team’s recent game against the Philadelphia 76ers due to back spasms. This unexpected absence marked Butler’s first missed game since joining the Warriors.

Without Butler, the Warriors faced challenges on both ends of the court. Despite a stellar performance from Stephen Curry, who recorded 29 points and 13 assists—including his first dunk since the 2018-19 season—the team struggled defensively. The 76ers capitalized on Butler’s absence, with Quentin Grimes delivering a career-high 44 points, leading Philadelphia to a 126-119 victory.

Since his acquisition from the Miami Heat, Butler has been instrumental in the Warriors’ success. Averaging 16.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 5.6 assists, and 7.5 free throw attempts per game, his presence has bolstered the team’s performance, reflected in their 7-1 record with him on the court.

The back spasms that sidelined Butler are believed to have resulted from a collision with Orlando Magic center Wendell Carter in a prior game. Warriors’ head coach Steve Kerr noted that the injury was not immediately apparent, highlighting the unpredictable nature of such ailments.

Encouragingly, reports indicate that Butler is likely to return for the Warriors’ upcoming game against the Charlotte Hornets. His anticipated return is expected to provide stability and enhance both offensive and defensive dynamics, especially during periods when Curry is resting.

The Warriors are set to face the Charlotte Hornets on Monday, March 3, 2025. Butler’s probable return is timely, as the team aims to rebound from their recent loss and strengthen their position in the Western Conference standings. Fans and analysts alike will be keen to observe how Butler’s reintegration influences the Warriors’ performance in the upcoming matchup.
