North African Dust Hits Portugal Again
Portugal is set to face more than just wet and chilly conditions this week as a new wave of dust from North Africa makes its way across the country. This meteorological event, commonly known as Saharan dust, is expected to impact air quality and visibility, especially in the southern and central regions.

The dust is carried by strong winds from the Sahara Desert and has become an increasingly frequent occurrence due to shifting climate patterns. While it creates dramatic skies and colorful sunsets, the fine particles can pose health risks—especially for those with respiratory issues.
Authorities are advising residents to limit outdoor activity during peak dust levels and to keep windows closed. The dust may also mix with rain, leading to muddy deposits on cars and buildings.
