In a move that is set to revolutionize the motorsports landscape, the city of Las Vegas has confirmed a 10-year deal to host a Formula 1 race, starting in 2024. The event, which will be known as the Las Vegas Grand Prix, will take place on a brand-new, purpose-built circuit that will wind its way through the famous Las Vegas Strip.
“We are thrilled to bring Formula 1 back to the United States and to Las Vegas,” said Formula 1 CEO, Stefano Domenicali. “This is a momentous day for our sport, and we can’t wait to see the world’s best drivers battling it out on this incredible new circuit.”
The deal, which was announced at a press conference in Las Vegas, marks a major coup for the city, which has been vying to host a Formula 1 race for several years. The event is expected to attract hundreds of thousands of fans from around the world and will provide a significant boost to the local economy.
“Las Vegas is the perfect destination for Formula 1,” said Las Vegas Mayor, Carolyn Goodman. “We have a proven track record of hosting world-class events, and we can’t wait to welcome the Formula 1 community to our city.”
The new circuit, which will be designed by renowned track designer, Hermann Tilke, will feature 50 laps, 17 turns, and a 1.2-mile straightaway that will allow drivers to reach speeds of over 200 mph.
