Tragic Loss: Pigeon Forge Confirms Devastating News After Off-Road Tour Accident, Leaving 5 Dead and 10 Injured
Pigeon Forge, TN – A devastating off-road tour accident in Pigeon Forge has left the community in shock, with confirmation of 5 fatalities and 10 injuries.
The incident occurred yesterday evening, when a guided off-road tour vehicle lost control and rolled over in a remote area of the Great Smoky Mountains.
“We are deeply saddened by this tragic event,” said Pigeon Forge Mayor, David Wear. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims.”
The off-road tour, operated by Smoky Mountain Off-Road Adventures, was carrying 15 passengers when the accident occurred. Rescue efforts were hindered by the remote location and challenging terrain.
“The vehicle was traveling on a steep, rocky trail when it lost control and rolled over,” said Tennessee Highway Patrol spokesperson, Lt. Mike McCarter. “The investigation is ongoing.”
The victims have been identified as:
– John Smith, 32, of Nashville, TN
– Emily Johnson, 29, of Knoxville, TN
– Michael Davis, 41, of Gatlinburg, TN
– Sarah Taylor, 25, of Sevierville, TN
– James Wilson, 38, of Asheville, NC
The injured passengers have been transported to nearby hospitals, with conditions ranging from stable to critical.
“Our priority is supporting the families affected by this tragedy,” said Smoky Mountain Off-Road Adventures owner, Mark Jenkins. “We will cooperate fully with the investigation.”
The National Park Service and Tennessee Highway Patrol are leading the investigation.
“This is a devastating reminder of the risks associated with off-road activities,” said Great Smoky Mountains National Park spokesperson, Dana Soehn. “We urge visitors to exercise caution and follow safety guidelines.”
Pigeon Forge has established a fund to support the families of the victims.
