Breaking News: Gamecocks Head Coach Shane Beamer Confirms Quarterback Spencer Rattler to Miss Tennessee Game Due to Concussion Protocol
Columbia, SC – University of South Carolina Head Coach Shane Beamer announced today that starting quarterback Spencer Rattler will miss Saturday’s game against No. 5 Tennessee due to concussion protocol.
“Spencer’s health and safety are our top priority,” Beamer said. “He’s currently in concussion protocol, and we’ll follow all necessary procedures to ensure his well-being.”
Rattler, a junior quarterback, suffered the concussion in last week’s game against Arkansas. Backup quarterback Luke Doty will start in his place against Tennessee.
“Luke has prepared well and is ready for this opportunity,” Beamer said. “We have confidence in his ability to lead our offense.”
The Gamecocks (4-2) face a daunting task against the undefeated Volunteers (6-0), but Beamer remains optimistic.
“Our team is focused and prepared,” Beamer said. “We’ll need to execute on all phases to compete with Tennessee.”
Injury Update:
– Rattler’s concussion is the latest blow to the Gamecocks’ offense, which has already lost wide receiver Xavier Legette to a hamstring injury.
– Defensive end Jordan Burch remains out with a knee injury.
Tennessee Game Preview:
– Saturday, October 21, 3:30 PM ET, Williams-Brice Stadium
– ESPN Broadcast
– The Volunteers boast the nation’s top-ranked offense, averaging 47.5 points per game.
