After just two starts above the High-A level, the Braves decided to turn to Spencer Schwellenbach on Wednesday, giving him a chance to make his MLB debut and hopefully put an end to the revolving door at the back of the rotation.
There were many highs and some lows. Schwellenbach’s final line read five innings, allowing five hits, one walk, and three earned runs to go along with five strikeouts. It was more than enough to give the Braves bats a chance to win, but as has been the case more often than not over the last month or so, Atlanta’s bats never quite could get going.
On the latest episode of SportsTalkATL, we discuss the MLB debut of Spencer Schwellenbach. What went right, what went wrong, and whether he deserves more opportunities to establish himself as a permanent member of the Braves rotation.
