As anticipated, Vikings starting linebacker Blake Cashman was unable to play in Thursday night’s game against the Los Angeles Rams due to turf toe, which has kept him out of practice. He was also absent from the Lions’ defeat on Sunday. While Josh Metellus, Andrew Van Ginkel, Dallas Turner, and Kamu Grugier-Hill saw action at inside linebacker versus Detroit, Ivan Pace Jr., wearing the green dot helmet, transmitted defensive play calls.
Tight end T.J. Hockenson (knee), guard Dalton Risner (back), and cornerback Akayleb Evans (hip), who also missed the Detroit game, were all listed as questionable. In order to play on Thursday, Hockenson and Risner, who are still on injured lists, must be added to the 53-man roster. After being sidelined by a hamstring strain during practice, running back Aaron Jones enters the Rams game with no injury classification. After handling 17 touches for 116 yards against the Lions, he said he had no hamstring issues. Cooper Kupp, the Rams’ standout receiver, is set to play for the first time since suffering an ankle injury in Week 2 and does not have an injury designation.
Along with defensive end Braden Fiske and defensive tackle Neville Gallimore, the Rams’ other standout receiver, Puka Nacua, who is on injured reserve due to a knee injury sustained in the season opener, returned to practice this week but is rated as questionable. The Rams’ green dot helmet-wearing linebacker Troy Reeder is out due to a hamstring ailment. Additionally sidelined are offensive tackle Joe Noteboom (ankle) and wide receiver Jordan Whittington (shoulder).
