The Philadelphia 76ers have a ton of money to spend this offseason after the Tobias Harris contract has mercifully come to an end, and the team is expected to go big game hunting on the open market by targeting superstars such as LeBron James, Paul George, and Jimmy Butler.
Before they can do that, the team has to take care of one of their own, and reports say that they are fully prepared to do so and keep one of its most important players in Philly long-term.
Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer shared that the Sixers are expected to re-sign star guard Tyrese Maxey to a five-year, $205 million deal this offseason (via NBACentral).

Maxey has quickly become an indispensable piece for this organization and is rapidly ascending toward superstardom following his first All-Star bid in 2024 as well as winning the Most Improved Player Award.
Maxey averaged 25.9 points and 6.2 assists per game this past season and developed into an ideal No. 2 option for Embiid.
Harris’ five-year, $180 million deal hamstrung the team, and with his money now being allocated to Maxey, the team will then be able to focus on landing a big fish this offseason in hopes of finally getting over the hump in the Eastern Conference.
Maxey already showed he can be accommodating to another star, as he fit in well alongside James Harden during his brief stint in Philly.
At just 23 years old, Maxey would be locked in through his age-28 season if he were to sign an extension, and there’s no reason to believe a deal won’t get done.
