Vincent Kompany Honors Celtic Supporters Following Bayern’s Win

Vincent Kompany, the coach of Bayern Munich, praised the atmosphere at Celtic Park on Wednesday night and acknowledged that his team had a difficult game because of the home crowd.

Following Bayern’s 2-1 victory, the former Manchester City captain praised the way the supporters propelled their team ahead and appreciated the special energy inside Parkhead.

After the game, Kompany told BBC Sport, “This place is very hard to explain, but they have something special and that’s why we value this win.”

Even though they were playing one of the best teams in the world, Celtic never gave up, and their fans made sure Bayern felt the pressure. The stadium was sometimes a cacophonous place, with the fans cheering their team on in the closing moments.

The fervor that makes Celtic Park one of football’s most renowned stadiums was evident in the way even minor triumphs, such as Greg Taylor gaining control on the halfway line, were shouted like goals.

Kompany’s remarks support the assertions made by numerous elite athletes and managers that Celtic Park is a unique venue, particularly on European evenings. Even though Celtic didn’t win that night, their performance and the support of their supporters made sure Bayern knew they had played.

In order to give themselves a chance to accomplish something extraordinary, Rodgers’ team will be trying to bring that same fighting spirit into enemy territory for the second leg in Munich next week.
