BREAKING: Former Texas longhorns player is serious problem again

When Steve Sarkisian lands five star wide receiver recruits to join the Texas Longhorns it’s usually assumed thoses players are going to become a focal point of the offense and potential leaders for the team. Unfortunately that never materialized with former Texas Longhorns wide receiver Johntay Cook. Now he’s in trouble yet again.

Cook, a five star in the same recruiting class as Arch Manning, was supposed to be “the next Xavier Worthy”. A lean, speedy, vertical threat who could win with his route running too, many had high hopes for Cook, but he just never took the steps necessary to break out for Texas. It seems that may have taken it’s toll on him as he was just arrested for the second time in the last two weeks.

Cook was already just arrested on multiple charges on February 4th, including theft. Now he’s been arrested for marijuana possession (although not in a large quantity). It’s unclear what the full repercussions of his back to back charges will be as of this writing. This is beginning to look like a sad trend for the former five star talent.

When Cook joined the Longhorns back in 2023 the team already had a bevy of veterans ahead of him on the depth chart, including first round pick Xavier Worthy, second round pick Adonai Mitchell, and fourth round pick Ja ‘Tavion Sanders at tight end. However, once all three of those players plus fan favorite Jordan Whittington were gone it should have become the Johntay Cook show.
