END OF AN ERA – BABY JET SHELLY.
There is a famous training club in Jamaica called the MVP track and Field Club.
Its headed by two pot bellied men but who have specialized on training the mind and body.
The complex is not complicated,its not what you find in the IAAF arena but the athletes in this complex have some of the best trained minds.
This training club is the head ache America has had to deal with for the last fifteen years being denied the gold in 100 Meters both men and women.
This training club discovered Shelly Anne Fraser, trained her and pushed her to be a gold medalist in the 100 Meters two times.
And 8 Olympic golds cumulative.
There is no other woman who holds that much golds.
Before Tokyo, the training club discovered yet another athlete by the name Herah and Herah seemed to be the new rising star in the 100 meters.
Shelly Anne being the darling of the club was unhappy and the tension between her and Herah was too much. The trainers kept telling Shelly to be supportive of the new entrant just as she had been supported when she joined the club, and that they were all representing Team Jamaica,it did not work out.
Shelly Anne decided to opt out of MVP club and to seek her own private training.
Meanwhile,Herah continued training with MVP.
In Tokyo 2021, when the 100 Meters final came the whistle sounded and in a flush all we saw was Herah crossing the finish line and Shelly Anne way behind.
Shelly Anne had been dethroned as the fastest woman on earth.
Now this is where it gets interesting, Herah became on overnight superstar and when she went back to Jamaica,she decided she was too good for MVP training club and her husband convinced her that he could train her.
Hehehehhe
Herah could not even make it to Paris 2024 as she was unfit and she blamed it on injuries, and so we have had an Olympics without the defending champ.
Shelly Anne showed up for the Olympics as the oldest sprinter at 37 and was looking to be the woman who gets 3 Golds.
However,once again due to stardom made the fatal mistake of deciding she cannot mix with other athletes in the village and instead booked a hotel outside.
She is running for Jamaica yet she decides not to live with Team Jamaica because all the athletes are from MVP.
This is the Olympics,rules change overnight and this is for security purposes and everyone has to follow the rules.
The training grounds changed,her team in the hotel wasn’t aware.
After training,the bus takes the athlethes from this particular training ground to the Stade De France as a group, Athletes can only get in through a specific gate.
Her team wasn’t informed, the Jamaican team in the village did not see the need to inform her, she showed up on the wrong training ground, could not train, then drove to the right training ground and found the bus leaving and they could not let her in.
Later,she was allowed in another bus but now said she had an injury.
And that was that.
It’s the end of career for one of our very best athletes.
The new star in the MVP club is Sherica Jackson who was coming for the 200 Meters Gold and would be competing America’s Gabby Thomas, in this 200 Meters they would also face the just crowned 100 meters champ Alfred of St.Lucia.
Sherica just pulled out.
Both Sherica(Jamaica) and Shacarri (US)are 200 meters specialists and usually also try the 100 meters but Sherica opted out to concentrate on the 200 meters, Shacarri opted out of the 200 Meters to concentrate on the 100 meters and came second after Julian Alfred of St Lucia.
