Tomas Soucek has paid the most touching tribute yet to departing West Ham boss David Moyes in a post on social media.
No player, bar perhaps Jarrod Bowen, encapsulates David Moyes’ West Ham tenure more perfectly than Tomas Soucek.
Not always easy on the eye but all about substance over style. And plenty of it.
Soucek and Bowen were Moyes’ first signings when he returned to West Ham at the turn of the year back in 2020.
The duo proved to be fundamental to West Ham surviving that season.
And along with Declan Rice, nobody has been more influential than Soucek and Bowen in the club’s rise since.
Soucek, like Moyes, has had his critics. But he continues to offer the team so much in terms of defensive discipline, aerial prowess at the back and up top, goals, a selfless attitude and tireless workrate.
Soucek the poster boy for Moyes reign
West Ham have been criticised for the way they have handled Moyes’ departure.
As one of the first names on Moyes’ teamsheet, many feel Soucek could find his future in question under new boss Julen Lopetegui despite signing a new deal recently.
Moyes has been great for Soucek and there’s no doubt he has been key for the Scot.
Soucek scored a fabulous goal to help the Hammers beat Luton 3-1 in the manager’s big farewell at the London Stadium last week.
After the game Soucek said he was delighted to help West Ham win the game for Moyes and said he deserved it.
Moyes took charge of West Ham for the 261st and final time in the 3-1 defeat at Man City on the last day of the season yesterday.
With City celebrating the title, Moyes’ last match all went a bit under the radar.
But one player wanted to make sure he gives Moyes his flowers.
Soucek most touching tribute yet to departing Moyes
Now Soucek has paid the most touching tribute yet to departing West Ham boss Moyes.
The midfielder says he will never forget the time they had together or what Moyes did for him by bringing him to West Ham.
“Thanks for everything boss,” Soucek said on X alongside a picture of the duo embracing.
“Four and a half years together in this great club.
“You brought me to this club and we made a lot of success.
“I will never forget these four and a half years and I will have the best memories.”
I’m not crying, you are.
What a lovely message from one great West Ham servant to another.
From one great servant to another
Not many have paid public tribute to Moyes thus far.
But Soucek’s message follows a short but sweet tribute from Lucas Paqueta.
Soucek and Moyes enjoyed some great moments together.
Many believe Moyes found his new Fellaini in the towering Czech.
The Scot has always been full of praise for the big midfielder and his professionalism.
Moyes even highlighted Soucek and his Czech mate Vladimir Coufal as key reasons for West Ham’s rise in the last few years.
So it is nice to see Soucek come out and publicly praise the manager.
Now all eyes will be on whether he enjoys the same level of appreciation and trust from Lopetegui.
