After multiple years of links, it seemed like Youssef En-Nesyri could have finally been joining West Ham. His former boss Julen Lopetegui taking over from David Moyes meant that a reunion was strongly on the cards, and the striker’s emotions during Sevilla’s last game of the season suggested he was on the move.

However, as always with West Ham, there seems to have been another twist in the tale which means that the Moroccan may not be on the move to East London as Lopetegui has reportedly switched his number one striker target.

According to a report from Mucho Deporte, the Hammers would now prefer to sign Samu Omorodion from Atletico Madrid instead. The 20-year-old stands at a staggering 6’4 and that is said to be one of the key reasons the Spaniard wants him. On top of this, his style of play is reminiscent of Michail Antonio, someone that Lopetegui has been a huge admirer of, but has more of those natural striker instincts.

The clubs are said to be a little bit away in terms of a deal as Atletico want £35 million guaranteed while the Hammers have apparently offered £24 million with the potential to rise to £33 million. However, if the terms can be ironed out then West Ham have one of Europe’s top talents on their hand and he could go on to be worth much more than what they paid for him in a very short amount of time.
